James A. Graham, born in Luxembourg in 1970, pursued his legal education in Paris. He earned his Bachelor of Laws (JD) with high honors from the University of Paris II in 1996. Subsequently, he obtained a Doctorate with high honors in International Law, Private International Law, and Arbitration Law from the University of Paris I in 2001, under the guidance of Pierre Mayer. Prior to this, he had completed his Master of Laws (LLM) at the same institution.
His professional journey commenced at the Luxembourg Department of Justice, where he actively participated in various sessions of the Hague Conference on Private International Law. Later, he held the position of a Law Professor at the University of Saarland in Germany and the University of Luxembourg. During this time, he served as a legal advisor to various public and private entities in Luxembourg, including prominent organizations such as the Luxembourg banking association, the chamber of commerce, and the association of international high-tech firms.
In 2001, he relocated to Mexico for personal reasons and assumed the role of a Full Professor at the Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey. Notably, he achieved a unique distinction as one of the few foreigners to obtain a Mexican law degree through homologation, bypassing the customary mandatory law school curriculum. Five years later, he was elected as the president of the local section of the National Association of Business Lawyers.
Subsequently, he embarked on the establishment of Lobo & Graham, firm which later merged with a New York-based law firm and several Mexican firms in 2011, forming DeForest. Within DeForest, he served as an international partner and led the International Law Practice Group and Arbitration. At one point, he held the position of CEO within the firm.
In the pursuit of a more focused arbitration practice, he made the decision to establish 3CT, a Litigation-Arbitration Firm. Following a successful 25-year career in litigation, he transitioned exclusively to handling high-profile cases.
In 2023, Dr. Graham retired from private litigation to dedicate himself solely to Public International Law through his new firm, GRAHAM, and his teaching role at the UANL Faculty of Law and Criminology.
In addition to his legal pursuits, he is also an accomplished essayist with works such as "The 3 Big Lies of Western Society" and "The 3 Big Lies of Religion." James Graham is a talented musician, counting wiht a First Prize in classical piano at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, and he plays electric guitar and bass.
